Candles are part of our Easter tradition.Godfathers or Godmothers usually give them to their godsons or godaughters.The candles must be lit for 40 days after the resurrection during Sunday church functions.Candles represent the light of resurrection and happiness.Their colour must be white for purity and revival or red for Christ's blood.We Greeks are used to saying that we celabrate ''Lambri''=light when everything shines because of the resurrection light.We light our candles on Saturday night when Christ rises and enlightens our hearts.We transfer the light at home where we bless the place we live in and light our oil lamps next to the icons of saints,Christ and Mary.

The ladybird is a symbolic insect .As it is red and black in colour It symbolises happiness because of resurrection while there is a black cross at its top that brings the Christ's crucifiction cross in mind. The batterfly symbolises the resurrection of Christ. After it comes out of its cocoon it becomes a beautiful,lively, full of bright colours life.
